A seven-member team from the Tobago YMCA Aqua Warriors will depart Tobago on Thursday 16th August, 2018 and head to St. Vincent and the Grenadines to compete at the FLOW Invitational Swimming Championships 2018 which is scheduled to take place

from the 17th – 19th August, 2018.

 

The three-day swimming championships hosted by the St Vincent and the Grenadines Swimming Federation will be held at the Shrewsbury Aquatic Centre at Ratho Mill, St Vincent and it is assured to be three days of hypercompetition.

 

The seven-member swim team consists of Tamia Peterkin, Tiana Peterkin, Joseph Cox, Timothy Clarke, Alisha Jack, Nicholoi Peterkin and national swimmer & coach Mosi Denoon who would play both roles as swimmer and Coach at the Invitational Swimming Championships.

 

In the 9 – 10 age group Category, Tamia Peterkin would compete in seven events, the 50-meter Butterfly, 50-meter Backstroke, 50-meter Breaststroke, 50-meter Freestyle, 100-meter Breaststroke, 100-meter Freestyle and the 100-meter Individual medley event. Sister and teammate Tiana Peterkin, in the same age group division, would compete in six events consisting of the 50-meter Backstroke, 50-meter Breaststroke, 50-meter Freestyle, 100-meter Breaststroke, 100-meter Freestyle and the 100-meter Individual medley event.

 

In the 11 – 12 age group category, Joseph Cox would compete in eight events, the 50-meter Butterfly, 50-meter Backstroke, 50-meter Breaststroke, 50-meter Freestyle, 100-meter Backstroke, 100-meter Freestyle, 400-meter freestyle and the 200-meter Individual medley event.

 

In the 13 – 14 age group category, Timothy Clarke would compete in seven events, the 50-meter Butterfly, 50-meter Backstroke, 50-meter Breaststroke, 100-meter Backstroke, 100-meter Breaststroke, 100-meter Freestyle and the 200-meter Breaststroke event.

 

In the Female 15 & Over age group category, Alisha Jack would compete in eight events, the 50-meter Butterfly, 50-meter Breaststroke, 50-meter Freestyle, 100-meter Breaststroke, 200-meter Breaststroke, 200-meter Freestyle, 200-meter Individual Medley and the 400-meter freestyle event.

 

In the Male 15 & Over age group category, Nicholai Peterkin, would compete in six events, the 50-meter Butterfly, 50-meter Breaststroke, 50-meter Freestyle, 100-meter Breaststroke, 100-meter Freestyle and the 200-meter Breaststroke event. Head Coach of the Team Mosi Denoon would compete in the 50-meter Breaststroke, 100-meter Breaststroke and the 200-meter Breaststroke event.

 

The Aqua Warriors team consisting of both first timers and seasonal regional championship swimmers completed their final training session on Tuesday 14th August ahead of their Thursday departure with a mixture of confident and anxious swimmers ready to compete at the Swimming Championships.
