WARRIORS RETURN WITH 23 MEDAL HAUL FROM FLOW INVITATIONALS IN ST VINCENT
The Tobago YMCA Aqua Warriors competed at the Flow Invitational Swimming championships which recently concluded on Sunday 19th August, 2018. The 7-member swim team comprising of Tamia Peterkin, Tiana Peterkin, Joseph Cox, Timothy Clarke, Alisha Jack, Nicholoi Peterkin and head coach Mosi Denoon returned with a total of 9 gold medals, 8 silver medals and 6 bronze medals from the regional swimming championships for an overall total medal haul of 23 medals.
Alisha Jack in the Women’s 15 & Over secured eight medals at the championships. Jack claimed gold in the 50-meter Butterfly, 50-meter Breaststroke, 50-meter Freestyle, 100-meter Breaststroke, 200-meter Breaststroke, 200-meter Freestyle, 200-meter Individual Medley and the 400-meter freestyle event.
Joseph Cox claimed eight medals in the Boy’s 11 – 12 age category. Cox collected Silver in the 50-meter Backstroke event, 100-meter Backstroke event and 400-meter Freestyle event. He then went on to collect Bronze in the 50-meter butterfly event, 50-meter Breaststroke event, 50-meter Freestyle event, 100-meter freestyle event and 200-meter Individual Medley event.
Timothy Clarke claimed three medals in the Boy’s 13 – 14 age category, capturing two silver and one bronze medal. Clarke attained silver in the 50-meter backstroke event and the 200-meter breaststroke event and bronze in the 100-meter backstroke event.
Head Coach and swimmer Mosi Denoon collected three medals, one Gold and two silver medals in the Men’s 15 & Over age category. Denoon successfully captured Gold in the 200-meter breaststroke and Silver in the 50-meter Breaststroke event and 100-meter Breaststroke event.
Also, in the Men’s 15 & Over age category, teammate Nicholai Peterkin, claimed one medal at the championships. Peterkin claimed his first Silver regional championships medal in the Men’s 15 & Over 200-meter Breaststroke event.
