The ASATT Invitational Championships 2017 took place at the National Aquatic Centre in Couva, Trinidad was held over a period of four days from 14TH – 17TH December and the swimming championships hosted 415 swimmers from 32 swim clubs locally and regionally. Competing in this swimming championships were Tobago YMCA Aqua Warriors National Swimmers Abrisse Trim, Jacob Cox and Bradley Thomas along with their team mates Jaden Myrie, Dante Williams and John Procope under the tutelage of head coach Mosi Denoon and assistant Coach Rochelle Pierre who both played the role of coach and swimmer.

The Tobago YMCA Aqua Warriors returned home with seven medals claimed by national swimmers Jacob Cox, Bradley Thomas and the relay team comprising of Dante Williams, Jaden Myrie, Bradley Thomas and Mosi Denoon.

On top of the individual medal standing was Jacob Cox who claimed a silver in the 200-meter individual medley event clocking a personal best time of 2:56.55 behind Zachary Anthony of Marlins Swim Club, Trinidad (2:52.38). Cox went on to capture a Bronze in the 50-meter Breaststroke event clocking a personal best time of 43.22 behind Tyresse Boxill of Blue Dolphins Swim Club (41.72) and Karic Charles of Lightning Aquatics Swim Club, St. Lucia (41.21).  Additionally, Cox placed 4th in both the 50-meter Backstroke and Butterfly event, 7th in the 200-meter Freestyle event and 13th in the 100-meter freestyle event.

Bradley Thomas stopping the clock at 1:04.60 in the 100-meter Backstroke event claimed Bronze behind Josiah Parag of Blue Dolphins Swim Club, Trinidad (1:02.32) and David Mc Leod of Atlantis Aquatics, Trinidad (59.89). Thomas went on to place 5th in the 50-meter Backstroke event, 11th in the 100-meter Freestyle event and 12th in the 50-meter Freestyle event.

The relay team comprising of D. Williams, J. Myrie, B. Thomas and M. Denoon also claimed Bronze in the 200-meter medley relay narrowly missing silver by 0.08 of a second. The team from the Tobago YMCA Aqua Warriors clocked a final time of 1:55.41 behind Flying Fish Swim Club (1:55.33) and Atlantis Aquatics (1:47.19).

Dante Williams additional to his relay Bronze placed 11th in the 100-meter Butterfly event, 12th in the 200-meter freestyle event, 14th in the 50-meter Backstroke event, 18th in the 100-meter freestyle event and 24th in the 50-meter Freestyle event.

 

Jaden Myrie, also additional to his relay Bronze to placed 14th in the 100-meter Butterfly event, 15th in the 50-meter Butterfly and 50-meter Freestyle event, 19th in the 50-meter Breaststroke and 23rd in the 100-meter freestyle.

 

Assistant coach and swimmer Rochelle Pierre placed 8th in the 50-meter butterfly event, 10th in the 50-meter Breaststroke event and 13th in the 100-meter freestyle event. Head coach and swimmer Mosi Denoon placed 4th in the 200-meter Breaststroke event, 6th in the 100-meter Breaststroke event and 9th in the 50-meter Breaststroke event.

 

Abrisse Trim placed 12th in the 200-meter individual medley, 13th in the 50-meter Backstroke event, 15th in the 50-meter Breaststroke event, 17th in the 50-meter butterfly event, 18th in the 50-meter freestyle event, 19th in the 200-meter freestyle event and 20th in the 100-meter Freestyle event. John Procope placed 16th in the 200-meter individual Medley, 22nd in the 100-meter Breaststroke and 27th in the 50-meter Breaststroke event.
