The Tobago YMCA Aqua Warriors swim team was formed just three years ago and is the only competing swim team in Tobago.

We have 30 active members, both competitive and developmental within the team.

In our short existence, we have achieved and continue to achieve so much. Three (3) members qualified for the Trinidad & Tobago National Swim Team and attended the Goodwill Games and Carifta in 2015.  Also in 2015, we had two (2) members qualifying and medaling at the Pan American Masters Championships in Medellin, Colombia. The following year three (3) members qualified for the T&T National Swim Team and represented at the 2016 Goodwill Games, along with our Head Coach, Mosi Denoon, being chosen as the first Tobagonian Head Coach for the National Goodwill Team.  In that same year, we also had two (2) members who represented us at the 2016 Carifta games in Martinique and the Caribbean Islands Swimming Championships (CISC) in Bahamas.

More recently our Assistant Coach, Ms Rochelle Pierre was selected as a National Coach for CCCAN which was held in Trinidad in June 2017 along with two (2) of our swimmers being chosen for the CCCAN T&T National Team as well. Our two coaches from the club were also chosen to represent Trinidad and Tobago at the 17th FINA World Masters Championships held in Budapest, Hungary.

The Club attends all national meets, which are mostly held in Trinidad, and in 2016 a contingent of swimmers also attended an international swim meet in St. Lucia where the team placed 7th overall out of the 24 participating swim clubs in this meet. In addition to that the team broke 3 records at the swim meet in St. Lucia and returned with a 21-medal haul.

This year, in May 2017, our club attended the 26th Annual Aquatic Centre International in Barbados, where we had a team of 10 swimmers with three (3) members medaling at this highly competitive competition.

Our children are very dedicated and we have some very talented individuals, aged between 8 – 18 years old.  Their training plan is intense with morning sessions starting at 5am – 6.30am and evening sessions from 3.30pm – 5pm in the pool and land training sessions three (3) times per week, as well.

The Aqua Warriors are a totally self-funded team, with an internal Council organizing fundraising ventures, which helps to raise money and team awareness.
